Buying and selling
Quotes, price impact, slippage and what to do when a trade fails.
Reading a token page
Every token has its own page with the numbers you need before you trade, a live chart and the trade panel. Everything updates live as trades happen.
Header
- Market cap
- The whole 1B supply valued at the current price, with its 24h change.
- Price
- The current price of one token.
- 24h volume
- The value of all buys and sells in the last 24 hours.
- In bonding curve / Liquidity
- Before graduation: the ETH held by the bonding curve. After graduation: the liquidity in the Uniswap pool.
- Holders
- How many wallets hold the token.
Chart
Switch the chart between market cap and price, and pick a candle interval: 1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h or 1D. New trades appear as they happen. If the live connection drops, a Reconnecting… notice shows until the data is current again.
Bonding curve card
Before graduation, this card shows how much ETH is in the curve, the progress toward the graduation target and the market cap at which the token graduates. Progress is the ETH in the curve divided by the target, so sells lower it. See Bonding curve.
Tabs below the chart
- Activity: every buy and sell, with its value, the market cap at the time, the trader and a link to the transaction.
- Holders: the largest holders and their share of the supply. Special addresses are labelled: Bonding curve (tokens not yet sold), Creator, Uniswap pool and Locked forever (tokens kept in the locker after graduation).
- Info: the description and links, launch date, creator, contract addresses, trade fee and creator tax, what the creator has earned, and the opening and graduation market caps.
Buying
- 1Connect your walletOpen the token page and connect. If your wallet is on another network, the button says Switch to GIWA Sepolia.
- 2Enter an amountChoose Buy and enter how much ETH to spend, or tap a quick amount. The USD value is shown next to it.
- 3Check the quoteThe panel shows what you receive, the price impact, the fee, the minimum received and the route. The quote refreshes while you wait.
- 4Confirm in your walletPress Buy and approve the transaction. The app checks the quote once more right before it asks you to sign. When the trade confirms, a notice links to the transaction.
On a phone, the trade panel opens as a drawer from the bottom of the token page. It works the same way.
Selling
- 1Enter an amountChoose Sell and enter how many tokens to sell, or press Max. The panel shows the ETH you receive after fees and the minimum received.
- 2Approve the tokensYour wallet first asks you to approve the token amount you are selling. This is a separate small transaction.
- 3Confirm the saleThen confirm the sale itself. The ETH arrives in your wallet in the same transaction.
Why an approval?
Price impact
Price impact is how much your own trade moves the price. On a bonding curve every buy raises the price and every sell lowers it, so a large trade gets a worse average price than the current one: fewer tokens per ETH when buying, less ETH per token when selling.
Young tokens have little ETH in the curve, so even modest trades can move the price a lot. Splitting a large trade into smaller ones does not avoid this, because each trade moves the price for the next.
Slippage
Between the quote and the moment your transaction confirms, other trades can move the price. Slippage is how much worse than the quote you are willing to accept. If the price moves further, the transaction is rejected instead of filling at a worse price.
- Default
- 2%
- Presets
- 0.5% · 1% · 2% · 5%
- Custom
- 0.1% to 50%
- Minimum received
- The quote minus your slippage
Change it by tapping Max slippage in the trade panel. The minimum received shown in the panel is the least you will get; if the trade can’t meet it, it fails and you only pay gas.
Fees on a trade
Every buy and sell pays the standard trade fee, currently 1%, plus the token’s creator tax if it has one. Fees are paid in ETH and are already included in the amounts the panel shows. See Fees for the full breakdown.
If a change to the standard fee is scheduled, the trade panel shows the new rate and when it takes effect.
Before and after graduation
When the bonding curve reaches its target, the token graduates to a Uniswap v4 pool. You trade from the same panel either way; only the route changes.
- Before graduation
- Route: Bonding curveYou buy from and sell to the curve contract.
- After graduation
- Route: Uniswap v4Trades go through the Gamapad router into the pool. The token, its address and your balance stay the same.
If a token shows Graduating, the curve is full but the move to Uniswap has not finished yet. Buying is paused for that moment, selling still works, and anyone can finish the move with Complete graduation for just the gas fee.
When a transaction fails
A failed transaction never takes your tokens or ETH beyond the gas it used. These are the most common causes:
- Price moved
- Other trades moved the price beyond your slippage before yours confirmed.
- Fee changed
- The fee went up after you saw it. Every trade carries the fee you were shown, so it is rejected instead of charging more.
- Took too long
- Trades expire if they are not confirmed within about 2 minutes, so an old quote can’t fill later at a stale price.
- Not enough ETH for gas
- Your wallet needs a little ETH to pay the network fee, for sells too.
- Wrong network
- Your wallet is not on GIWA Sepolia. Switch networks and try again.
- Cancelled in wallet
- You rejected the request. Nothing was sent.
What to do
- Get a new quote and try again. Most failures clear up on the next try.
- If the token is moving fast, raise your slippage a little, not a lot.
- Open the transaction on the block explorer to see whether it confirmed or why it failed.
- If it keeps failing, check Status or see Support.
Verify the contract and add it to your wallet
Anyone can launch a token with any name and image. The contract address is the only reliable way to know you are trading the token you mean.
- Copy the contract address from the token page header and compare it with the one the project shares through its own channels.
- Use View on explorer on the token page to look up the contract on the block explorer.
- To see the token in your wallet, open More actions on the token page and choose Add to wallet while your wallet is connected.
